"Mail art is art dressed up in casual clothes" Richard Canard (USA)

I received within some weeks letters and postcards from Richard Canard who is one of the few - still active - mail artists, who really had correspondance with Ray Johnson. He sent me a New York Times article about R.J. from April 11, 1965 and wonderfull vispos with ingenious thoughts about correspondance, mail art, collagemaking.

For the serious mail artist nothing is as old hat as yesterday´s postcard - wrote me Richard on this card.

Collage is the big Hibiscus of mail art & blooms among the refuse & flotsam of that which makes up our daily lifes.

There is no disgrace in making bad mail art but there probably should be.

Surpize, surprize - the curator of the mailbox museum is the postman & to him it´s just another stop on the street.

Richard is our philosopher, isn't he?
